POSITION: 15 – Overhead Lineworker, Grade C

DEPARTMENT: Electric Maintenance & Construction

RATES OF PAY: $41.25 – 42.57                                                                       

CURRENTLY POSTED HOURS: 7:30am – 4:00pm

SCHEDULE: M-F

REMARKS:        

OH, Grade C is the rating held by an employee during the period s/he is acquiring the necessary knowledge and experience to demonstrate his/her capability of advancing to Line Worker – OH, Grade B.

Line Worker – OH, Grade C rating will only be used for applicants who wish to enter the overhead line force and progress through the established ratings.

Assists in the installation, removal, inspection and repair of overhead plant and apparatus at heights not in excess of 35 feet above ground, excluding work on poles having underground primary risers, boosters or regulators, or where his/her working position would require him/her to be in close proximity to series street lighting circuit wires or energized primary conductors. 

Under close supervision: his/her work is subject to check; learns specifications, procedures and requirements relating to work on overhead lines; recognizes, distinguishes and becomes familiar with various types of overhead circuits.

After a period of six months on the top step of Line worker – OH, Grade C, employees deemed qualified for advancement by the Manager, Technical Training, and with the approval of the Director of Operations, shall be advanced to Line Worker, Grade B.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Ability to perform moderately heavy physical work outdoors in all seasons and at times for extended periods.

2.  Must have experience and knowledge of overhead line work as gained by successful completion of Line Worker OH C School or the equivalent experience and knowledge gained elsewhere.

3. Massachusetts Class B License to Operate Motor Vehicles within six months from the date they enter Line Worker OH C rating.

4. Must have mechanical aptitude, be alert and careful.

5. Must pass Company approved EEI testing (CAST test) and successfully complete OH prescreen.
