Summary
Under limited supervision by the Assistant Community Manager, develops, supervises and evaluates the work activities in the Senior Services Department. The Director manages the Senior Services program whose goal it is to ensure the Seniors in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community can remain in their homes and in the Community for longer than would otherwise be possible. Provides overall leadership and supervision of the Department’s programs including Case Management, Homecare Assistance, Meal Program, Transportation, Assistive Device Provision and Recreation. Examples of duties
1. Mentoring: Mentors Senior Services staff so they attain the technical and customer service skills along with experience necessary to perform independently and attain further career progression goals.- Establishes and maintains an environment that encourages teamwork, interdependence and ethical behavior.
- Provides training and development assistance for staff including opportunities for licensing and certification.
- Establish opportunities for employee career development and progression.
2. Supervision: Provides routine supervision of assigned staff members.
- Prioritizes and coordinates staff workflow and provides staff training and development assistance as needed including opportunities for licensing and certification of programs and staff.
- Supervises the Senior Services Department management staff, holding each accountable for staff performance according to individual goals and objectives.
- Ensures the overall high quality of services for the Senior Services program.
- Evaluates employee performance and prepares Employee Performance Appraisal Reports (EPARs) for assigned staff.
- Ensures compliance with standard practice for service delivery and client documentation.
- Establishes, implements and improves department staff performance standards thereby providing a department-wide set of guidance standards and development processes.
- Coordinates staff disciplinary actions and measures in accordance with Tribal Government policies, practices and procedures when necessary.
3. Leadership: Provides leadership to department staff including the future direction of the department, how that guidance will impact the Senior Services goals and objectives and how current and future programs can be best utilized for the benefit of the Community.
- Analyzes and plans for the current and future needs of the department through research methods and evaluations as well as development of programs, services and policies.
- Implements Quality Assurance (QA) measure to ensure efficiency of resources.
- Establish professional linkages for services.
4. Senior Programs: Plans, implements, directs and monitors all Senior Services Department related services and programs, providing for the efficient and effective functioning of all systems and personnel.
- Coordinates and confers with other SRPMIC Departments, public and Tribal Government officials and representatives of various agencies and institutions regarding Senior related issues and the welfare of Seniors in the Community.
- Programs may include:
- Family and case management services
- Adult protective services
- Support groups and training for Seniors
- Family conferencing/Wraparound
- Provision of meals (congregate and home delivered)
- Transportation services
- Provision of assistive devices for Seniors
- Homecare assistance for Seniors
- Information and referral services
- Conducts ongoing program evaluations. Researches, designs and implements new programs and facilitates program changes and improvements.
- Ensures overall quality of Department service delivery.
- Supervises the provision of health and nutrition education, transportation services, home services, socialization opportunities, Senior Services referral sources and other services.
- Manages the Senior citizen intake and needs process as well as assignment to Senior Services programs and activities. <
