Summary:
Responsible for the sorting, processing, and handling of soiled and clean linen to ensure high standards of quality and efficiency in the laundry department.
Essential Responsibilities:
Soiled Linen Sorting:

Sort soiled linen received from accounts, separating by linen type on moving conveyor belts into designated bins.

Observe and practice all required personal protective equipment (PPE) standards.
-
Meet established production standards, including sorting 800 pounds of mixed soiled linen per hour and emptying 25 soiled carts per hour (with two operators).

Maintain a clean work area before breaks and at the end of shifts.
-
Remove all non-linen items and place them in designated locations.
-
Empty soiled linen carts into the dumper and move linen onto the conveyor belt for sorting.
-
Separate non-linen items and trash before placing them on the incline belt.
-
Properly dispose of trash and recyclable plastics in the appropriate compactor.
-
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Dry Folding Linen:
-
Feed, catch, and stack linen items needing folding through industrial laundry equipment.

Meet production standards for various linen types:
-
Bath Towels: 750 per hour
-
Patient Gowns: 300 per hour
-
Blankets: 500 per hour
-
Baby Blankets: 750 per hour
-
Wash Clothes (Hand Stacking): 1000 per hour
-

Separate mis-sorted linen and place in designated containers.
-
Maintain cleanliness in the work area before breaks and at the end of the shift.

Remove non-linen items and place them in designated locations.
-
Perform other duties as needed.
Flatwork Linen Processing:
-
Feed, catch, or stack linen items requiring ironing through high-production industrial equipment.

Meet production standards for various linen types:
-
Flat Sheets: 300 per hour
-
Contour Sheets: 280 per hour
-
Pillowcases: 700 per hour
-
Scrubs: 300 per hour
-

Separate mis-sorted items and place them in appropriate containers.
-
Keep the work area clean before breaks and at the end of shifts.

Remove non-linen items and place them in designated locations.
-
Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Experience, and Requirements:
-
Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
-
Experience: Previous laundry experience is a plus but not required.

Must be able to stand for an entire shift (8+ hours).

Must be able to walk, grasp, handle, and feel for extended periods.

Requires frequent reaching, climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.

Must be able to speak and hear clearly.

Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Must be able to lift and carry over 25 pounds regularly.

Must wear protective gowns, gloves, surgical masks, and eye protection at all times.

Must be able to handle and view soiled linen, including blood, body fluids, and fecal matter, occasionally.

Must be able to pull or push laundry carts weighing up to 500 pounds when full of soiled linen.
