Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. The Sterilization Sciences and Biological Safety (SSBS) Group supports all sterilization and biocompatibility activities design and development of devices for submissions worldwide, as well as offering continued support for post-release activities and manufacturing. The biological safety group is also an industry leader in biocompatibility and toxicology evaluations of medical devices.  We are searching for an intern pursuing a Chemistry, Biochemistry, BioEngineering, Forensic Science, or other related science degree to support the SSBS team at Arthrex corporate headquarters in Naples, Fl. The successful candidate will prepare, execute, and file technical documents that support toxicological risk assessments for patient safety, and submit testing with guidance from the Biological Safety Specialist or Sterilization Specialist. The individual will also work within the requirements of their tasks to deliver results and communicate issues to the cross-functional design team.

 

This internship will run from May 2024 – August 2024. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.

 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Retrieval of toxicology information to create a database. 
  • Catalogue device material information for assessments/MDR.
  • Chemistry raw data entry and analysis.
  • Support special projects and routine database housekeeping.
  • Sample submissions to testing labs.
  • Sterilization cycle review.


Education and Experience:

Progress towards a college degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Forensic Science, or other related science degree required. (Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as an intern/co-op up to six months from their graduation date.)

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) required.

 

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.
