The Director, Global Wellness Strategy is a member of the Global Health and Wellness Team, and reports to the AVP, Global Health and Wellness. This role requires extensive experience in wellness strategy, program redesign, multi-country program management, multi-country team management, data analytics, and compliance processes. The role works very closely with internal and external stakeholders across multiple countries to ensure the wellness program is meeting colleague, business, and cultural needs. A great fit to the team is passionate about wellness and adept at developing, championing and implementing recommendations for strategic program evolution on a global level, is comfortable speaking internally and externally about Manulife programs and working with plan participants and their families where appropriate, anticipates industry trends, and can solve complex problems.
Responsibilities:
This role is first and foremost for a visionary and a strategist. We need a strong, proven, leader who has taken independent programs, and brought them together in a cohesive manner and enabled them to evolve and thrive.
In this capacity the Director, Global Wellness Strategy will:
- Lead initiative to define, socialize and implement new global wellness philosophy for Manulife. This work will include defining global goals for the program, establishing measurement criteria, creating an implementation roadmap, and working with colleagues to establish a single-currency budget as appropriate.
- Lead all necessary global or country-specific RFP work resulting from re-imagined global wellness philosophy. Work with country-specific resources as necessary for implementation and roll-out.
- Establish key organization-wide wellness themes and initiatives. Examples may include events such as May Mental Health month. Support includes working with internal and external stakeholders to create marketing tag lines, social media support, daily, weekly or monthly onsite and virtual events, as well as other steps as necessary.
- Organize North American-wide events throughout the year to promote preventive screenings, proactive health, and vaccines where appropriate.
- Manage a team of wellness consultants and champions in the US and Canada. Additionally work with companywide Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to promote wellness initiatives.
- Proactively manage all vendors associated with the wellness programs in the US and Canada. Management should include a deep understanding of population health data, population health efficacy, and ways to improve population health. This role is also responsible for creating new Global strategy for wellness, and partners with Global colleagues on program implementation, and how the programs should evolve based on data.
- Provide thought leadership and participate and/or speak in internal and external engagements as appropriate.
- Align with the Head of US Benefits Strategy, Head of US Benefits Operations, Global Benefits partners and Head of Canada Benefits Strategy and Operations to ensure benefits and wellness programs are synergistic.
- Support ad-hoc benefits projects on behalf of the Global Health and Wellness Team as necessary.
- Stay apprised of industry trends, legal and compliance updates, and apply gained knowledge to designated processes.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in wellness strategy.
- Demonstrated success in program development, goal setting and implementation.
- Proven team management, vendor management and relationship skills.
- Project management experience.
- Experience utilizing data and identifying trends.
Preferred:
- Previous experience with global wellness strategy.
- Previous experience with internal & external program speaking engagements.
- Knowledge of benefit plans financial processes.
