Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer (Sourcing Materials Engineer) to join the Wattstopper Team in Carlsbad, CA.
The successful candidate Collaborates with the Operations Department's initiatives to achieve cost reduction and Supply Chain Optimization goals. Leads efforts in exploring, initiating, developing, and validating opportunities in quality improvements and cost savings and other sourcing related opportunities. Act as the technical interface between suppliers and manufacturing engineers to determine new and alternate sources.
What Will You Do?
MAIN JOB DUTIES:
Develop a supplier database by actively sourcing, identifying and evaluating new supplier sources
and conduct negotiations for Commodities (Sheet Metal, Packaging, Contract manufacturing, Electromechanical Assemblies).
Participate in the strategic supplier negotiations to reduce costs. Collaborate in all RFI, RFP, RFQ activities as
well as the RFx evaluation process with existing and new suppliers. Partner with New Product Development (NPD) engineers
to ensure the integrity and clarity of engineering drawing requirements and that all expectations are communicated effectively
to supporting suppliers. Contribute in sourcing analysis and selection process and perform cost analyses and make
versus buy analyses as required. Uphold all Kaizen/VAVE activities to reduce product cost. Drive standardization
of Purchasing Organizations, Processes and Procedures across the organization. Facilitate the promotion of related
cost reductions working with Manufacturing, Logistics, Engineering and other Business Center product teams to ensure cost-reduction
methods are used for product development and manufacturing. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Required Skills
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Supply Chain Management; Master's degree, a plus.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 0-3 years' experience working in mechanical engineering or supply chain management, a plus.
SKILLS/KNOWELDGE/ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge in manufacturing, purchasing management, supply chain planning, or sustaining manufacturing production process with a good understanding of Complex Bill of Materials as well, a plus.
- Ability to interpret manufacturing drawings including 3D CAD data; GD&T, preferred.
- Ability to influence others to obtain results using a wide degree of creativity along with strong negotiation skills.
- Exceptional ability to consider the relative costs, risks and benefits of potential actions and determine the most appropriate option to achieve business objectives.
- Strong interpersonal, creative, judgement and discretion skills to establish positive, productive relationships and influence customers to comply with the organizations' financial payment structure.
- Ability to apply principles of logical, scientific thinking or data to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems to resolve issues.
- Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations; apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and ability to effectively handle multiple priorities.

- Ability to handle sensitive confidential information in completing assignments.
- Intermediate use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite Applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and JD Edwards as well as other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems used in the manufacturing or supply chain management such as Oracle and SAP.
