Summary
Salt River Project (SRP) is transforming its power generation resources, including a new pumped storage hydropower project that could provide up to 2000 MW of energy storage. As a Senior Principal Engineer, you will lead technical transmission line engineering efforts, including analyses, PLS-CADD modeling, structure loading calculations, design structure framing, hardware assemblies, drafting plans and specifications, and preparing bill of materials and procurement documents. Your initial role will involve working with SRP’s Pumped Storage Project Team on the design, procurement, and construction of approximately 55 miles of new 500kV transmission and several system upgrades. What It Takes To Succeed
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
- Perform optimization analysis and project scoping; considering standard and nonstandard structure and materials to meet the planning and project needs, while also meeting company standards, specifications, construction and maintenance needs.
- Be familiar with the PLS-CADD suite of software including proficiency with advanced FE/SAPS modeling techniques including as-built wire system modeling. Experience with TOWER and ASCE 10.
- Extensive experience specifying and procuring transmission materials and equipment, and design and construction services.
If internal, Candidates must attain a Valued Contributor or better rating on their annual performance review for the last three years.
Responsible for budgets, schedules, and management of resources for programs and projects of major scope. Demonstrated network of internal and external contacts including customers, outside agencies, and suppliers of significant equipment and services. Occasional travel to suppliers' facilities, industry functions, and SRP facilities. Ability to work effectively with various organizations within SRP. Ability to use engineering tools required for the job. Must have a valid driver's license.
Ability to work effectively with SRP executive management.
