What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers competitive pay commensurate with education and experience.  New hires are typically brought into the organization between $145,727 - $192,000/annually, based on experience and education.  We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

Location & Schedule

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. In this position, you can expect to work on-site at least three days per week at the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Building, 201 W. Colfax Ave., Denver, CO 80202. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

DOTI is seeking an innovative and outward-facing transportation professional to serve as the manager of the Transportation and Mobility Engineering team - a high-performing team responsible for ensuring the safety, performance, and reliability of Denver’s transportation system.   

This position will champion Vision Zero and the Safe Systems approach, bringing both deep technical expertise and proven leadership skills to foster innovation, and support staff’s growth and development.  The successful candidate will provide public representation for DOTI—serving as a visible, trusted voice both internally and in the community.

This position will report directly to the division Director / City Traffic Engineer (CTE). It will be a member of DOTI’s Core Leadership Team and will work closely with the CTE and Deputy CTE to deliver the following services:

  • Safety engineering and design

  • Policy, standards, rules, and regulations

  • System optimization and performance management

  • Traffic regulation and control

  • Customer service and public engagement/representation

  • Technical subject matter expertise in traffic and transportation engineering for all modes

Key responsibilities are expected to include:

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead, supervise, and develop a team of engineers, analysts, and technical professionals.

  • Set team priorities, allocate resources, and manage budgets and business planning.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and technical guidance across the organization.

Collaboration & External Representation

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships across DOTI, city departments, and external agencies.

  • Represent DOTI in public forums, stakeholder meetings, policy discussions, and media engagements.

  • Serve as a visible ambassador for the division—comfortable speaking publicly and advocating for transportation initiatives.

  • Support and/or lead coordination with regional, state, and federal partners, as well as community organizations.
