The University of Texas, Dell Medical School (DMS), is a Health Research Institute (HRI) with the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium. The program and projects of the HRI work to address the clinical needs of the programs which address urgent mental health challenges and improve the mental health care system in Texas for children, adolescents and their families. This position will coordinate assigned projects related to the Texas Child Mental Health programs such as the Child Psychiatric Access Network (CPAN), Perinatal Psychiatric Access Network (PeriPAN), and Texas Child Health Access through Telemedicine and other similar and/or related projects for the Central Texas catchment area. This position will support communications initiatives related to psychiatric and access program, ensuring alignment with legislative, institutional, and program goals.   

 

The candidate should possess a strong combination of writing, project management, and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with both internal and external stakeholders.  This position also requires strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage a communications team and collaborate closely with medical providers. The candidate must also possess an extraordinary attention to detail.  

 

This position will be assigned on-campus with an expectation to work on-site for some of the scheduled work week, which will require that you work and live in central Texas. Remote work will require reliable internet access and a suitable workspace free from distractions. DMS HR will contact employees to confirm location of residence and work location is allowable by UT standards. Failing to accurately report work location may result in revocation of approval of Flexible Work Arrangement and/or other disciplinary action.

All pieces should be under 1,500 words, with a preferred length of 700 words. Purpose

Execute and deliver on communications strategies that elevate awareness and impact of the Texas Child Mental Health programs and other related initiatives which are aimed at improving mental health access and care for children and adolescents in central Texas. 

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Communications and Outreach Administrator and in collaboration with clinical and administrative leadership and departments, plan, execute, and monitor communication strategies that enhance the university, department, and program’s reputation and promote its goals. Implement the strategic Communications direction for the Texas Child Mental Health and similar programs. Develop and implement metrics to measure program success through adherence to scope, timeliness, budget, and customer satisfaction.  

  • Develop and/or review engaging and persuasive written content, including slide decks, flyers, reports, newsletters, promotional videos, and website and social media content that engage a variety of audiences, including physicians, school administrators and counselors, community mental health providers, parents, and children and adolescents. Collaborate with subject matter experts to create technical content that can be easily understood by diverse audiences.  Edit and proofread materials for accuracy, clarity and adherence to branding guidelines.  

  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate communication staff and student assistants. Assign work, monitor capacity, and recommend adjustments to organizational structure, if necessary.
