Imagine how your ideas and expertise can change a patient’s life. Our Global Supply Chain team plays a central part in ensuring our products are delivered to patients with cardiovascular disease. You’ll partner cross-functionally with operations and commercial and legal teams, delivering thoughtful solutions to complex challenges all while developing your knowledge of the medical device industry.

The Director will develop strategy, lead and direct actions required to ensure the compliance of Edwards, its affiliates, and vendors with all government import, export, Customs brokerage, and trade compliance laws and regulations globally.

How you’ll make an impact:

• The Director of Trade Compliance will be responsible for ensuring that all import and export activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies globally.

• Provide guidance on upcoming and current trade compliance regulations and operations, enabling the business to navigate complex international regulatory landscape.

• Develop and implement trade compliance policies, procedures, and best practices based on current international trade regulations, laws, and policies to ensure the company's adherence to relevant laws and regulations.

• Point of contact for the company’s global sites on export compliance questions, government inquiries, government reporting, and all other applicable areas of trade controls

• Develops and implements processes to address potential violations of trade compliance regulations, including reporting to relevant authorities and taking corrective actions.

• Educates employees and relevant stakeholders within the organization about trade compliance regulations, denied party screening process, and how to ensure their activities are in line with these regulations.

• Conducts risk assessments to identify potential compliance vulnerabilities and developing strategies to mitigate these risks effectively.

• Provides expertise on relevant subjects including but not limited to Harmonized Tariff Schedules, Export Control Classification, Forced Labor Compliance, Free Trade Agreements and Anti boycott Compliance.

• Subject Matter Expert (SME) Knowledge of Trade Compliance – Provide Edwards’ response to Edwards Government Affairs, Global Ethics & Compliance, Treasury, Tax, Regulatory, Quality, Legal, and other functional groups on import, export, Customs brokerage and trade compliance related matters and inquiries globally.

• Represent Edwards on the global stage including participation in various international compliance organizations and on both national and local trade compliance committees.

• Talent Development – Drive world class talent development strategies. Develop and mentor team of trade compliance professionals.

What you’ll need:

• Bachelor's Degree and relevant experience

• Demonstrated track record in people management       

• Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of relevant trade regulations, such as the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Customs regulations, export/import licensing, free trade agreements and sanctions programs.

• Strong leadership skills to manage a team responsible for trade compliance activities.

• Development of strategy and implementation plans to ensure compliance in changing global regulatory environments.

What else we look for:

• Master’s Degree with 10-12 years of relevant experience

• US Customs brokers license.

• Representation in World Customs Organization (WCO), international compliance organizations and local trade compliance committees and associations.

• Track record of collaboration with senior management and cross-functional teams to successfully implement and maintain global import and export compliance.

• Demonstrated ability to mitigate risk of government violations, penalties, fines, and/or imprisonment including global impact.

• Master’s Degree with 10-12 years of relevant experience

             
For California, the base pay range for this position is $138,000 to $195,000 (highly experienced).
