About the role
<p>In this role, you will develop, test and troubleshoot solutions on top of the relational database management system as part of the team with end-to-end responsibility for the Network Management product.</p>
<p>You will utilize your excellent database knowledge in creating structures, balance performance, scalability and maintainability. In your daily work, you will contribute to feature specification, development, testing and automation. You will support the migration from the current Oracle database to a PostgreSQL database and manage the database environment proactively as well as play a key role in ensuring the scalability of our network management systems.</p>
<p>With a solid background in software development and practical experience, you are well-equipped to assist other developers in enhancing feature performance through query optimization, indexing best practices and efficient database configuration. With your expertise, you are always ready to share your knowledge and skills with your colleagues and coach other team members.</p>
<p>As you will be part of a multicultural environment, a good command of English is essential. <ul>
<li>Contribute to feature specification, development, testing, and automation </li>
<li>Create optimized DB schema designs that balance performance, scalability, and maintainability.</li>
<li>Write and optimize SQL and PL/SQL code</li>
<li>Ensure the availability and performance of the databases that support our systems, ensuring that they have sufficient resources allocated to support high resilience and speed</li>
<li>Perform and assist developers in performance tuning, fine-tuning query execution plans, indexing strategies and database configurations.</li>
<li>Lead and support technical activities in your own responsibility area </li>
<li>Coach team members at solving complex engineering problems </li>
<li>Provide technical training sessions and create materials to support developers' continuous learning<br/> </li>
</ul>
<p>You have:</p><ul><li>8+ years’ experience in software engineering and administrating Oracle / PostgreSQL Databases in Linux environments</li><li>Strong expertise in SQL and PL/SQL</li><li>Ability to set up, monitor, and maintain Oracle / PostgreSQL instances</li><li>Creating optimized schema designs that balance performance, scalability, and maintainability</li><li>Experience with software testing (DFMEA, testing at different levels, automation, testing tools)</li></ul><p>Nice to have:</p><ul><li>Comprehensive knowledge of version control (Git/Gerrit)</li><li>Java or Python knowledge</li><li>Experience working with OpenShift and Kubernetes</li></ul><p>Please note that this role requires presence at the Tampere office (hybrid work arrangements) and we are not offering an international relocation option for this position.</p><p> </p><p>#Nokia2025</p>
