Job Title: Head Basketball Coach

Reports To: Principal/Athletic Director

Status: Seasonal (November- February)

Pay Rate: Stipend

A Telos Academy basketball coach helps instruct and train students in preparation for basketball games (ages 13 to 17). An assistant basketball coach works directly with the academic team to instruct, evaluate, encourage, monitor, and record the progress of individual students. They devise and adapt resources to suit the specific learning styles and needs of each student.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Instructs, teaches, and guides students during practice and games
• Monitors student progress by training, giving appropriate feedback, and maintaining records of each student’s progress and development
• Manages pupil behavior in the community in
• Creates an athletic working environment for students
• Selects and uses a range of different learning resources and equipment guided by the teacher
• Completes residential certifications and classes such as CPR, 1st Aid, Processing Training, TB Tests, Restraint Training, etc

Requirements

Qualifications:

• A basic understanding of the disorders Telos treats or a willingness to learn about these disorders
• A love of physical activity and training
• Ability to direct the class
• Ability to hold and maintain discipline within the academic setting
