The Opportunity
This position works out of our Lake Forest, IL location in the Cardiometabolic and Informatics Division. We’re empowering smarter medical and economic decision-making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Every day, more than 10 million tests are run on Abbott’s diagnostics instruments, providing lab results for millions of people.
The Senior Manager Compliance is responsible for leading internal and external audit strategy to ensure audit readiness. Manages a team of auditors and acts as a change leader, responsible for management of improvement activities to improve quality systems, audit readiness, and compliance across the division. Manages a team of training coordinators who are responsible for training support and expertise to employees to ensure continued compliance with Quality System and administration of the divisional Learning Management System. Additionally, leads the audit community of practice for the division and participates in corporate teams as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).
What You’ll Work On
Acts as Subject Matter Expert for audits in inspections and external audits.
Directs audit management, including staffing, logistics, and role allocation before, during, and after audits. Reviews and approves audits performed by the team.
Reports audit outcomes and serves as the division owner of the QA Audit Systems.
Leads the division readiness program, focusing on risk prioritization and mitigation.
Evaluates regulatory guidance (e.g., FDA), changes to standards, actions, and audit findings to assess impact and mitigate business risks.
Analyzes trends from various sources to provide insights on recent audit findings and proactively address regulatory, compliance, and quality issues.
Leads briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives.
Interacts with management and senior-level representatives regarding projects, decisions, scheduling, and contractual clarifications.
Liaises with customers and suppliers as needed.
Manages multiple quality system elements/functions as defined in the site Quality Manual.
Implements the quality plan in line with objectives/goals and maintains the effectiveness of the quality system.
Determines staffing and resource requirements to achieve business goals and compliance.
Resolves project team issues and leads complex process improvement initiatives.
Develops and manages staff, ensuring adequate training programs for safety and business EHS goals.
Develops quality goals based on business strategies, collaborates with other units on common goals, and drives results.
Establishes and implements communication strategies for quality improvement and awareness.
Manages department financials and cost improvements.
