The Manufacturing Engineer – Machining/CNC Programming is creative, energetic, and adaptable with a positive attitude to lead teams through competing demands, address productivity improvements and drive a cost reduction culture.

The Manufacturing Engineer - Machining/CNC Programming manages all aspects of the development, implementation, and improvement of Heat Exchanger projects for the Power & Controls Air Management Systems business.  The Manufacturing Engineer provides leadership for flawless execution in production and development programs and works closely with the management team to ensure alignment with customers’ needs and to drive high performance manufacturing systems.

The position supports work that covers a variety of shifts in a 24-hour/seven-day schedule, as such, there may be a need to support work on occasional nights and / or weekends.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for developing, posting, successful prove out of CNC programs for 3-, 4-, and 5-Axis machine tools. 
  • Positively impact manufacturing processes, quality, productivity, and technology through all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to aftermarket support and across the entire suite of products. 
  • Track design and make of tooling for machining operations.
  • Track status of Solumina plans and author as required; ensure resources available for timely completion.
  • Fully support and participate in the resolution of quality issues and processing of QNs to support production.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement systemic corrective actions and process improvements related to machining operations.
  • Work within the IPD Team to identify areas of concern and develop solutions (including formal DFMEA)
  • Drive PFMEA and development of Process Control Plan
  • Communicate needs and coordinate hourly support with Supervision, including OT planning.
  • Manage various manufacturing development projects to MRL9.
  • Ensure machining resources are capable.
  • Lead teams (including at suppliers) in support of manufacturing improvement, productivity, cost reduction projects.
  • Develop metrics and tracking systems to identify, track, execute and complete machining projects with measurable milestones consistent with the program objectives.
  • Participate in proposals and manufacturing plans.
  • Coordinate with the IE team to implement Lean Transformation projects.
  • Participate in development of Technology Development Plans (TDPs) including funding and staffing requirements.
  • Achieve customer satisfaction, measured by feedback analysis and other metrics.


 

Qualifications/ Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here:  https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CAD experience, Siemens NX
  • CNC programming via CAM and / or G-code
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of GD&T and measurement processes
  • Knowledge of statistical process control
  • Knowledge of Process Failure Modes & Effects (PFMEA)
