The Department of Modern Languages and Classics at the University of Alabama is seeking a renewable contract full-time instructor of Russian starting August 16, 2026. This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal based on satisfactory performance.
Applicants should have native or near-native fluency in Russian. The successful candidate should not only be able to teach courses in Russian at all undergraduate levels but also be able to teach courses in English on Russian literature and culture. The department is in the process of establishing a minor in Folklore and Mythology. It is highly desirable that candidates have experience in teaching Russian Folklore. A minimum of ten years of experience teaching undergraduates at North American institutions is expected.
