Pharmacy Manager (Mays Cancer Center)

Manages the pharmacy program, including the drug formulary, drug information systems, pharmaceutical contracting, and staff supervision in a manner that will assure a consistently cost effective and quality pharmacy program.

Manages and coordinates the overall operations of pharmacy services and personnel in accordance with all federal and state laws related to the storage, compounding and distribution of pharmaceutical drugs.   Develops and maintains written policies and procedures for pharmacy services in keeping with state, federal and University rules and regulations.   Aligns and maintains effective processes and workflows.   Develops the budget and ensures department operates within budget and in accordance with performance standards.   Provides leadership and expertise to pharmacy staff including: clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and support staff.   Management duties include interviewing, selecting and training of employees; setting and adjusting their rates of pay and hours of work; planning and directing their work; appraising their productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending promotions or other changes in their status; handling their complaints and grievances and disciplining them when necessary.   Performs all other duties as assigned.   Experience performing prescription dispensing activities that demonstrate a strong working knowledge of applicable state and federal controlled substance laws.   Supervisory experience planning, organizing, and directing the work of pharmacy staff.   Knowledge of computer and technology systems and software including pharmacy information systems.   Excellent customer service skills.   Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.     Experience Five (5) years of experience working in a pharmacy, including at least three years in a supervisory capacity is required.     Add. Licenses & Certifications: Current TX state license to practice pharmacy, or eligible for licensure is required.

Retirement - Employees are eligible for either the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP). TRS is a defined benefit retirement plan which UT Health matches employee contributions. ORP is for eligible faculty staff employees. Voluntary retirement programs are also available to invest before- or after-tax dollars with the choice of five quality retirement plan providers. 
Time Off - A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options:

• Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
• Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
• Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment.
• Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each year.
