Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Construction Safety Manager to oversee and enforce site safety practices on active construction projects. The ideal candidate is experienced in hazard identification, OSHA compliance, safety training, and fostering a culture of safety from preconstruction through closeout. This individual will work closely with superintendents, subcontractors, and the project team to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel on site. This position is in Columbus, Ohio.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety plans in accordance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and local safety codes.
- Conduct regular job-site inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Lead site safety orientations and ongoing training sessions for employees and subcontractors.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses, document findings, and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor subcontractor compliance with safety protocols, conduct weekly safety talks, and ensure accountability across all project partners.
- Collaborate with project leadership during planning and execution to proactively identify safety challenges.
- Maintain all required safety documentation and reporting in a timely and organized manner.
- Serve as the on-site safety resource, answering questions, offering guidance, and promoting best practices daily.
- Support safety initiatives during all phases of construction, including preconstruction meetings and project closeout. Complies with established company work rules, policies, and procedures.
- Actively engages with other members of the company to continuously strive to improve processes, create efficiencies, reduce costs, and increase profitability.
- Cooperatively takes on other duties, roles, or responsibilities, as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- 3–7 years of safety experience in commercial, industrial, or heavy civil construction.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA 1926 regulations and construction industry safety best practices and risk management.
- Experience with incident investigation, reporting, and root cause analysis Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence safe behavior across all site personnel.
- Experience developing and delivering safety training programs.
- Ability to remain calm and decisive in high-pressure or emergency situations
