About the role

As a member of the Hopkins Bloomberg Center (HBC) Operations team, we are seeking a Sr. HR Coordinator who will provide a wide range of human resources support and consulting services to department managers, supervisors, and staff covering the following: recruitment and employment, salary administrations, employee relations, training and education, information management, performance management, benefits interpretation, records management, payroll responsibilities, HR policy interpretation, as well as information dissemination. This may also include employee engagement and recognition activities.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities


General HR Consultation

  • Provide consultation to employees and management on HR issues including HR practices and university policy, employee relations, compensation, training, recruitment, and benefits.
  • Provide advice related to HR programs available with JHU.
  • Facilitate employee engagement through the development of department action plans.
  • Coordinate with HR Central, Payroll shared services, and the Benefits office to act as liaison with all new and existing employees.


Employment

  • Works with managers to initiate the requested information to post for a position and tracks the process through all steps until posted for applicants to apply.
  • Ensures new employees are onboarded and in SAP correctly.


Time Management

  • The coordinator will work closely with HR team to ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are followed, including adherence to state and federal laws regarding FML and other labor laws.
  • Responsible for coordinating initial department efforts related to Family Medical Leave (FMLA) and short-term disability (STD) including Parental and Birth Recovery leave. Will work with divisional administrations on submission of paperwork related to this area.
  • Tracks and send reminders for various compliance related requirements such as training, flu shots, etc.


Employee Relations

  • Assist in gathering sensitive information for HR matters such as disciplinary action.
  • Assist with exit interviews for those employees terminating or transferring, retrieval of badges, and answering questions related to final pay and benefits.
  • Assist with attendance issues and other employee relation actions.
  • Tracking performance management steps such as annual reviews, goals, and checkpoints.
  • Actively evaluate existing programs and engages in continuous improvement of systems and processes or creation of new programs.


Payroll/Compensation

  • Coordinate annual merit review and introductory review process and notify divisional management.
  • Assist with initiating annual merit increases.
  • Ensure correct documentation is received regarding compensation related changes.
  • Prepare/initiate/process all ISRs including hiring new employees, salary changes, personal data changes, position attribute changes, LOA and other complex transactions.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Very necessary paperwork has been received from new hires and assist with I9 as necessary.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other related field.
  • Three years related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Starting Salary Range: $46,200 - $80,800 Annually (Commensurate with experience)
