Consultancy: Cash based Assistance – Knowledge management and reporting Consultant

BACKGROUND

Purpose of Activity/ Assignment:

Support global reporting and knowledge management tasks for the use of cash-based assistance modalities in fragile and humanitarian contexts

Scope of Work: 

The tasks below will be performed by the consultant, under the supervision of the UNICEF Global Cash lead (based in Nairobi) and in close collaboration with staffs' members of the multi division Global cash hub.  

 

Reporting activities:

  • Undertake quality assurance tasks to inform and track the yearly volume of UNICEF use of cash-based assistance modalities, this includes analytical work and triangulation of data from different sources, liaison with country level focal points to quality assure data,
  • Draft annual Cash based assistance reporting narrative for multiple reports (HAC, EDAR, GARR, HARR, Donor Reports)

Knowledge management

  • Develop and disseminate updated internal UNICEF Cash Atlas page (visualization of UNICEF country offices using cash-based modalities
  • Develop and disseminate thematic and/or country specific case studies on the use of cash-based modalities
  • Develop and disseminate UNICEF internal quarterly newsletter on cash-based assistance (3 per year)
  • Develop targeted CBA-related external and internal communication products
  • Maintain internal and external CBA resource pages up to date
  • Manage and update Global CBA mailing list

Internal and external communication activities

  • Develop a minimum of 4 internal ICON stories
  • Develop and disseminate social media messages on UNICEF’s Global 2025 CBA Results
  • Identify, collect and compile data to inform an CBA-focused social media package around World Humanitarian Day

Qualifications

Education:

  • Master's degree in economics, Social Science, Database management, data analytics or related field is required. Bachelor's degree complemented with relevant industry certifications and two years additional work experience can be considered In lieu of Master degree

Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required *:

  • A minimum of 8 years professional work experience in the humanitarian field, including at least 5 years of experience in documenting humanitarian programmes

Desired:

  • Proven technical expertise on the use of cash-based modalities in humanitarian and fragile contexts
  • Proven advanced analytical and writing skills
  • Experience/exposure to UNICEF programmes at country office level.
  • Experience in reporting, documenting, monitoring and/or evaluation activities of the use of cash based modalities in humanitarian and fragile contexts
  • Experience collaborating across multiple functions and working with operation
