Job Duties

The Department of Health, Physical Education, and Exercise Science (HPEEX) within the School of Education at Norfolk State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Exercise Science (F0007) position. We seek candidates that have expertise in Exercise Physiology, Clinical Kinesiology, and/or Biomechanics as well as clinical experience in rehabilitative settings as a Kinesiotherapist, Physical Therapist, Athletic Trainer, and or Exercise Physiologist. A Review of Applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Applications must be submitted by October 15, 2025, for full consideration. The position will remain open until it is filled.

Minimum Qualifications

  1.  A Ph.D. (ABD considered) in a related field such as: Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Human Movement Sciences, or Rehabilitative Sciences from an accredited program is necessary.
  2. Demonstrate expertise in Exercise Physiology, Clinical Kinesiology, and/or Biomechanics.
  3. Considerable knowledge and 1-3 years of independent clinical practice in rehabilitative settings as a Kinesiotherapist, Physical Therapist, Athletic Trainer, and or Exercise Physiologist.

Additional Considerations

  1. Preference will be given to candidates that are licensed and/or certified professionals in rehabilitation settings.
  2. Candidates that possess Registered Kinesiotherapist (RKT) certification and knowledge of CAAHEP accreditation standards and procedures are highly preferred.
