Position Summary:

This position is responsible for leading the strategy and day-to-day operations of one of the largest maintenance organizations in the company. You will be responsible for the safe, successful, operational activities while maintaining compliance with company policies, government regulation and regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, DNR, FDA, USDA, FRA, HACCP, etc.). This facility processes corn into value added products with employment of approximately 650 ADM and contractor colleagues, approximately 250 of these reporting up through this Maintenance Manager position.
The person in this role will have previous experience in maintenance leadership positions and be an expert in R&M systems, standards, predictive and preventative programs and best practices with a proven track record of developing maintenance program and supporting team from the ground level.  They must be flexible in a dynamic environment while utilizing data to prioritize focus.  They will spend a significant amount of time in the field mentoring, providing support, and auditing practices and policies. They will display a commitment to, lead, participate and support safety engagement.  They will support the team’s growth in training, capabilities, and experiences through the use of development plans.  They will ensure good team communication and alignment through regular performance and development conversations with colleagues and other leaders across the complex.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Actively work to ensure that all ADM employees, visitors, vendors, and contractors understand and align with the ADM safety policies and procedures
  • Require safety and compliance with all state and federal regulations, and ADM policies
  • Work very closely with compliance personnel to ensure continuous audit readiness in a PSM and Food Safety plant
  • Lead and continually improve a maintenance program that maintains assets efficiently to meet production and quality goals
  • Responsibility for developing and maintaining a yearly R&M budget for the plant, including tracking and reporting monthly progress and preventing cost overages.
  • Develop team to execute efficient maintenance planning and scheduling practices that meet/exceed operational needs.
  • Guide department in a manner that results in a cohesive, focused, positive climate to achieve organizational goals
  • Strategically utilizing RCM CoE resources and incorporating standards and best practices where needed.
  • Upholding an effective training program for new and existing maintenance techs. Work with the operations team on any cross-functional training.
  • Utilizing Performance Excellence/Continuous Improvement tools to meet department and facility goals.
  • Identifying and prioritizing maintenance improvement projects.
  • Provide mentorship to maintenance colleagues, engineers, and other ADM Leaders to achieve short term and long-term department performance through use of KPI’s, continuous improvement, and continuous improvement concepts.
  • Embrace an owner’s mindset by managing costs and continuously focus on efficiency improvement
  • Provide mentorship, accountability, and disciplinary support as necessary
  • Maintain a high degree of availability to a 24/7 operation.
Required Skills:
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Knowledge of food safety requirements in a processing plant
  • Excellent leadership ability including a vision for strategic direction, delegation, and leading others in work execution
  • Knowledge of multiple processes and unit operations in a full-scale production plant
  • Knowledge of PSM and Food Safety Standards is vital
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Proven track record as a phenomenal teammate
  • High energy level and clear customer focus emphasis
  • Ability to prioritize workload
  • Make decisions in a fair and professional manner

Required Education:

  • B.S. in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Ag Preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Leadership experience (in a union environment is a plus) where performance accountability and culture change is demonstrated and driven.
Required Experience:
  • 10+ years’ experience in a maintenance supervisory/leadership role
  •  5+ years of industrial maintenance in a continuous process environment preferred
Desired Experience:
  • Leading candidates will have maintenance or operations leadership experience in a Corn Wet Mill processing facility or similar processing facility.
