A Safety Officer position is available in the Property Management Department in the Fleet Division. The Safety Officer will serve a critical role in developing a Comprehensive Safety Program that addresses the needs of fleet personnel within these maintenance areas. The position will also lead implementation of OSHA standards for the division, inclusive of providing training, monitoring compliance, and ensuring the adherence to all safety and health protocols and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelorโs degree from four-year college or university in Safety management, occupational health and safety, environmental safety, engineering, or a closely related field.
- Three years of safety experience and / or training.
- Valid Texas Driverโs License.
Preferred Qualifications:
- State of Texas Safety and Health Officer Certification
- Experience working with field operations personnel
- Knowledge of developing and implementing administrative policies and procedures
- Knowledge of construction industry and related requirements
- Knowledge in the Fleet industry and related requirements
Safety Officer job responsibilities include:
- Drafting, updating, and enforcing safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Identifying potential hazards in the workplace through regular inspections, risk assessments, and audits at each center and inspections.
- Providing safety training and educational programs to employees to raise awareness about safety protocols, emergency procedures, and the proper use of safety equipment. SOP job task safety compliance inception, confined space monitoring, training and compliance, PPE protocols.
- Conducting thorough investigations into accidents, injuries, and near-misses to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Developing and implementing emergency response plans, conducting drills, and coordinating with external emergency services to ensure the department is prepared to respond effectively to emergencies.
- Establish a well-defined Employee Training Program and Safety Program to ensure understanding of workplace hazards and reduce workplace Accidents
- Fostering a culture of safety within the organization by encouraging employee participation, recognizing safety achievements, and promoting open communication about safety concerns.
- Collaborating with management and employee representatives to form safety committees and actively participate in city wide meetings to address safety issues and develop solutions. Representative of PMD in City wide safety committee meetings, ARB participant focusing on PMD ARB inception and analysis.
- Overseeing the selection, maintenance, and inspection of safety equipment such as personal protective equipment (PPE), fire extinguishers, and safety signage.
- Staying up-to-date with all relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards and ensuring that the organization remains in compliance with them.
