JOB SUMMARY
Manages workers' compensation, auto, and general liability claims from receipt through settlement or litigation including: investigations, determination of liability, settlement negotiations/denials, and the proper management of documentation including private and protected information.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Four (4) years of experience investigating, negotiating, and adjusting claims and claim settlements; of which two (2) years may be substituted for a degree in Business Management, Public Administration or other closely related field.
Must possess current Residence Adjuster's License issued by the State of Utah or be able to obtain licensure within six (6) months of hire date.
Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must successfully pass an initial criminal background check as well as every two years thereafter and continuously meet the requirements of the Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Receives incoming claims, makes personal contact with the injured employee or claiming party, and sets appropriate reserves.
- Verifies accuracy of information in claim documents to ensure sufficient detail such as dates, times, and the description of incident.
- Investigates claims to verify County involvement and assess County liability.
- Determines compensability or liability by applying the applicable facts to the governing laws and rules.
- Determines Medicare eligibility and prepares file documentation for mandatory reporting.
- Manages claim files including preparing proper documentation, processing required benefits, negotiating settlements, and facilitates communication between all involved parties.
- Determines the need for and authorizes independent medical examination(s). Coordinates with physicians in scheduling and documenting medical examinations.
