About the role
The Accounts Payable Assistant Manager role involves providing oversight of accounts payable team to ensure efficient, timely and accurate payments to vendors. This position works under the direction of the Accounts Payable Manager. Performs accounting and clerical tasks related to efficient maintenance of accounts payable transactions.
Daily Operations
- Assists A/P Manager with MMC Accounts Payable Process & Function in a Professional & Knowledgeable Manner includes daily management of the AP staff and processes.
- Compiles and prepares reports from vouchers, invoices, transmittal sheets and other documents.
- Interprets work procedures: trains new employees; explains policies and procedures to lower classification to ensure compliances with accounting procedures.
- Entrusted with responsibility for maintaining accurate and complete financial records related to accounts payable. This includes tracking payments, employee and student payment details, and vendor information a task that is crucial for the College’s financial transparency and trust.
- Ensures that invoices are processed accurately and on time. It not only involves verifying invoice details, tracking expenses, and processing payments to vendors and suppliers but also significantly contributes to the College’s financial health.
- Mediates and resolves conflict promptly; solution-oriented, preserving positive relationships even during challenging situations with employees, students, and vendors.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of the principles and methods of bookkeeping.
- Knowledge of business English and arithmetic.
- Knowledge of the application of bookkeeping principles.
- Ability to direct the flow of a large volume of work.
- Good personal computer and business solutions software skills
- Good communication skills for communicating with support personnel and management
- Demonstrate ability resolve conflicts and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrate ability to exercise good judgment and discretion
- Good analytical skills for educating internal clients on accounting principles
- Good planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field from an accredited college or university or a minimum of five (5) years of related work experience is preferred.
- Must have large ERP AP system experience.
