Job Summary

Under direct supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Heating Plant Operations, assist in the supervision of the operation and maintenance of all Heating Plant personnel, equipment and building mechanical equipment.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$47.90 per hour

Required Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Four (4) years (48 months ) of work experience in the maintenance and operation of steam and power plant equipment.
3. One (1) year (12 months) of work experience in a position comparable to the Steam and Power Plant III.
4. Valid driver's license.
5. A final candidate must complete a post-offer pre-employment physical exam. Employment is contingent on the successful result of the pre-employment physical.

Preferred Qualifications

1. One year of supervisory experience.
2. Trade School, University or factory training.
3. Computer operation knowledge.
4. Ability to work with a wide variety of University personnel.
5. Ability to organize and plan.
6. Ability to resolve problems and follow-up with outcome.

Work Hours

Monday - Friday; 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

1. Manual dexterity to use hand tools.
2. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
3. Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
4. Visual acuity to discern basic wiring and piping color codes.
5. Gain access to and work in confined spaces.
6. Work in both hot or cold environments, exposed to the elements.
7. Must be able to speak and hear clearly over the radio and telephone.
8. Must be able to work overhead, on knees, back or stomach for extended periods of time.
