About the role

The Aircraft Mechanic I - LUH-72 A&P performs maintenance on helicopters, excluding repair of systems according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals and safety procedures.

 

·       Removes and installs aircraft subsystem assemblies such as engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components.

·       Services and lubricates aircraft and subsystems.

·       Prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks.

·       Performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections.

·       Performs limited maintenance operational checks and assists in diagnosing and troubleshooting aircraft subsystems using special tools and equipment as required.

·       Uses and performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools and aircraft ground support equipment. 

·       Prepare forms and records related to aircraft maintenance. 

·       Removes and disassembles defective parts of the aircraft.

·       Maintains the supplies and perform preventive maintenance.

·       Performs additional duties including maintenance duties, as requested.

·       When required can use Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) for job duties.

·       Adheres to company policies and safety programs (Safety-first mentality).

 

Minimum Requirements

·       High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

·       U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired, certification of education level is required.

·       All mechanics assigned to perform maintenance on FAA certified aircraft must meet FAA requirements. Valid FAA A&P Certificate Required.

·       Shall have three years aviation maintenance experience, two years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS).  All experience must be within the six most recent years.

·       Valid Driver’s License.

·       Must provide own tools/toolbox. Recruiters will provide toolbox requirements to candidates upon selection.

·       Must be able to work, day shift, swing shift, night shift, and/or weekend shift (if applicable) – As required for CBA.

·       Must be eligible to obtain a Passport and be able to travel internationally (applicable to OCONUS work sites).

  • Must be willing and able to work any shift, as assigned by Union.

 

Clearance Requirements (as applicable)

·       Must be able to obtain and maintain a NAC-I (T1) Public Trust Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.

·       Must be able to obtain and maintain a (Secret Clearance) US Government Clearance. US Citizenship is required to obtain s Secret Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

 

Knowledge & Skills

·       Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems on the assigned MDS.

·       Basic knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, hydraulic press machine, and those listed in the assigned MDS Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC).

·       Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.

·       Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects
