QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two year degree, 60 hours of credit from an accredited institution or passing scores on the RBT exam.
  • Must hold and maintain current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must have current government issued identification

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

8 Hours/190 Days

The terms of employment detailed in this job description are based on full time employment during the school year. Conditions of employment adjusted for part time employees or individuals who are hired for less than an entire school year.

 

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of a behavior analyst, is responsible for providing behavioral therapy to students with autism. The RBT implements the ABA behavior therapy programs and collects data for students who receive ABA services.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supports and upholds the mission, vision and strategic goals of Lexington County School District One towards increased outcomes for students.
  • Interacts, communicates and collaborates with all stakeholders effectively.
  • Establishes a safe, supportive, positive and productive working and learning environment.
  • Operates general office and technology equipment needed for daily activities.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding all employee and student information.
  • Participates in all professional meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Requests and maintains materials needed for daily responsibilities and essential functions; provides for safe storage and proper use of all tools, equipment and materials.
  • Interacts, communicates, and collaborates with classroom staff under the supervision of a behavior analyst.
  • Demonstrates awareness and understanding of applied behavior analysis as required for successful job performance.
  • Identifies methods for improving the quality of service and job activities and reports findings to the supervising behavior analyst.
  • Establishes & maintains therapeutic relationship by pairing self as a reinforcer and uses ABA techniques to facilitate transfer of instructional control to other team members.
  • Teaches safe and socially acceptable replacement behaviors as outlined in behavior intervention programs created by the behavior analyst in order to build a repertoire of communication, social interaction, and problem solving skills.
  • Fades prompts appropriately to promote both successful and independent responding.
  • Increases the frequency or duration of safe and appropriate replacement behaviors by providing access to reinforcers (desired items/actions, attention, or removal of demands/aversive situations).
  • Accurately collects behavior data including: ABC, frequency, duration, latency, interresponse time, and interval based recording.
  • Follows the treatment plan goals and interventions utilizing sound judgment and seeks out appropriate consultation with the behavior analysts.
  • Collaborates with the behavior analyst to provide effective treatment and cooperates with those team members to adapt procedures and expectations appropriately to the environment and the learner.
  • Collaborates with team members to implement interventions effectively without disrupting the learning of the student receiving services or the other students in the environment.
  • Educates all those involved about the role of the RBT in implementing behavior analytic interventions and functions within boundaries of the RBT role in providing treatment.
