Ketjen Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Albemarle Corporation, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the I/E maintenance team by providing technical guidance, problem resolution and design support for electrical distribution, motors, controls and process instrumentation.  This position will support our Catalyst business and will be based at our Bayport, TX plant.

Key Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

  • Provide engineering and technical support for I/E maintenance group.

  • Evaluate issues and equipment influencing OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).

  • Identify root causes of chronic equipment deficiencies through “Bad Actor” and cost analysis, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), and equipment history reviews.

  • Develop, implement and periodically review Electrical and Instrumentation best practices (maintenance procedures, predictive and preventive maintenance plans).

  • Provide maintenance support and insight to the project-engineering group.

  • Explore alternative options (vendors, materials, designs) to reduce direct maintenance costs.

  • Assist technicians, engineers, production personnel, and managers with troubleshooting complex issues and equipment failures.

  • Direct third-party efforts related to plant infrastructure repairs.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.

  • 5-10+ years’ experience working in an industrial environment.

  • Working knowledge of power system design, power distribution equipment and protective relaying.

  • Design and troubleshooting knowledge of electric motors and related equipment including motor starters, motor protection relay, and variable frequency drives.

  • Design and troubleshooting knowledge of process controls, instrumentation (pressure, level, flow, temperature) and burner management systems.

  • Must be well versed in applicable codes, government regulations, and standards, pertaining to electrical systems such as NFPA, NEC, and API.

  • Must be self-motivated and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to interface effectively with wide range of technical, analytical and managerial personnel.

  • Ability to lead execution of work and resolve technical engineering and operational issues in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Experience using MS Excel, Approach, Access, Word and Autodesk AutoCAD.

  • Working knowledge of PLC and DCS systems.
