The Transitional Research, Innovation, and Test Development Office (TRITDO), has an opening for a Developer. TRITDO is responsible for developing diagnostic tests. In the Developer role you will be an innovator who develops, evaluates, and implements novel/new tests, methodologies, technologies, or products for the laboratory under the intellectual and scientific guidance of laboratory directors and [DT3]. Responsibilities include:
- Improving existing methods or implementation of novel technology of proven validity within the work unit
- Organizing new method validation data
- Preparing data for publication and peer review
- Participating in formal presentations
- Actively partnering with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives
*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to apply to other positions within Mayo Clinic.
**This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification; Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
To be considered for this position you must meet one of the qualifications below.
- Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, biological science and two years relevant laboratory experience
- Bachelor's degree, a certificate in MLS, and two years relevant laboratory experience
*A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. Other clinical laboratory specialty certificates will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis.
Additional Qualifications
- Preference for exceptional critical thinking skills along with the following valuable, but not required skills:
- Tissue Culture
- Protein purification
- Flow Cytometry
- Software
- Western Blot
- ELISA
- Molecular
- Preferred: Master's degree in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology or Doctoral degree (PhD) in chemistry or a biological science
- Self-motivated, highly organized, efficient, and able to work independently exercising strong decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
- Capable of reproducing a reference method using available procedures without supervision.
- Demonstrated analytical and scientific competency with development and/or validation of lab techniques or procedures.
- Experience with data collection, organization, analysis and delivery of information.
- American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements.

**DLMP employees that have been in current lab/position for less than 2 years must attach early release approval from supervisor.
***Non-DLMP employees that have been in their current department/position for less than 1 year must attach early release approval from supervisor.
