Partnering with the global EHS leader, the leadership team, and other key stakeholders, the VP/Director of Orora Packaging Solutions (OPS) will be a critical player in driving the execution of OPS' global and companywide safety and environmental programs and initiatives to ensure the protection and safety of our co-workers, our partners, and our community. The successful candidate will be a proven EHS executive with experience leading EHS in a stand-alone company or a division as the senior EHS leader. They will have the ability to provide strategic direction, determine priorities based on key risk criteria and measure the effectiveness of our EHS programs. They will also have a practical and pragmatic business sense and a proven track record as a strategic advisor and trusted business partner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides senior management with guidance on short and long-term safety strategy.
- Aligns OPS EHS strategy and plans to global strategy, plans and initiatives to implement and drive global standards.
- Defines organization goals and targets to measure safety performance, drive engagement and reinforce positive safety behavior.
- Facilitates the development and continuous improvement of EHS policies, procedures and training programs to ensure compliance with local, State and Federal rules and regulations. Monitor regulatory changes and trends, forecasting company impacts and updating programs as necessary.
- Partners with business leaders and regional safety team to assess operational risk and implement programs and initiatives to mitigate top risks.
- Ensures Orora global safety initiatives are executed across all OPS divisions.
- Utilizes experience and EHS technical expertise to assist business leaders and regional safety team with problem-solving and issue resolution.
- Partners with HR and Legal functions to ensure robust incident investigation and management process, including proactive management of worker’s compensation claims and Return to Work program.
- Leads, develops and aligns team of Regional EHS Managers and safety support personnel (local coordinators).

IDEAL EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering, industrial engineering or related field; Advanced degree preferred
- 5-10 years of safety leadership experience in both a distribution and manufacturing setting
- 5 – 7+ years multi-location experience is required; preferably experience with over 50 locations with multiple North America countries supporting over 2000 co-workers
- 5 to 7 years experience with DOT, OSHA and environmental requirements
- Bilingual English / Spanish a plus
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding in technical and practical knowledge of Industrial Health & Safety Regulations, DOT Regulations, Workers' Compensation Law, Labor Laws & Regulations, Environmental Regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the organization
