Additional Job Description:

The West Virginia University School of Medicine, Department of Orthopaedics, is seeking a podiatrist (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice at the Fairmont Gateway Clinic in Fairmont, WV.

Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the area of podiatry. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students

and orthopaedic residents. The available position will have a heavy emphasis in diabetic wound care, general podiatry and non-operative treatment and care. Elective reconstructive hindfoot surgery is not a focus of this position. Opportunities exist to participate in clinical and translational research.

Our Department of Orthopaedics has approximately 45 full time faculty in all sub-specialty areas of Orthopaedics, including spine, total joint replacement, sports medicine, foot and ankle, hand, pediatrics, trauma, musculoskeletal oncology, and basic science. Our faculty are fellowship trained and respected nationally, but we emphasize more than surgical expertise - our mission is to set the standard in orthopaedic care. Our thriving, collaborative team of musculoskeletal specialists are dedicated to providing exceptional patient care by achieving excellence in patient outcomes and continually improving our clinical operations.  Academically we are committed to providing comprehensive orthopaedic education resulting in personal and professional development of residents, faculty and learners at all levels. As a leader in research we conduct effeicient, collaborative and translational research that improves patient outcomes and advances musculoskeletal research from the bench to the bedside.  As a part of a major academic teaching center, we use a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment and education of our patients. Our physicians have easy access to a full range of specialists.
 

Qualifications: Candidate must have a DPM degree from an accredited college of pediatric medicine and be eligible for state medical licensure. Successful candidate must have completed a podiatry residency program and be board certified / eligible in podiatry. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
