This is a 9-month, full-time faculty position reporting to the Dean of the Division of Communication and Arts. The instructor is responsible for teaching 15 load hours each fall and spring semester in Music. The successful candidate joins a highly collaborative, innovative, and forward-thinking faculty teaching in the Division of Communication and Arts. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach a range of courses in the music program, such as Music Appreciation, Composition, Music Theory, Aural Skills, Applied Lessons or ensemble relevant to the instructor’s credentials and experience. The successful candidate will possess the ability to develop new curricula relevant to the changing needs of students, the field, and the College; to recruit students to the program; and to build relationships with community partners. The successful candidate will demonstrate a student-focused approach to instruction that promotes retention and completion of credentials. Familiarity with the community college mission and appreciation for our diverse student profile is strongly desired.

The start date for this position will be August 2026.

Essential Duties:

• Teach a range of courses within the Music curriculum, including courses delivered in traditional, dual‑enrollment, and alternative formats (online, remote, hybrid)

• Provide instruction that meets the needs of a diverse student population and supports student engagement, retention, and completion

• Develop, maintain, and deliver course syllabi and curriculum that align with college learning outcomes and program requirements.

• Assess and evaluate student learning; submit grades by established deadlines; and maintain accurate student records in compliance with FERPA

• Maintain regular office hours on campus to support students and collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators

• Remain current in the academic discipline through ongoing professional development and participation in scholarly or professional activities

• Contribute to the development, assessment, and continuous improvement of the Music program and the Associate of Fine Arts degree

• Participate in faculty evaluation processes, college‑wide, division, and departmental meetings, and institutional planning initiatives, including accreditation efforts

• Provide service to the College through participation on committees, advisory boards, faculty governance, hiring committees, or as a student organization advisor

• Teach courses at multiple campus locations and at various times, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends, as assigned

• Attend commencement and other college or program‑related events as appropriate to the discipline

• Perform other academic and instructional duties as assigned by the supervisor

Rate of Pay: determined by month faculty scale placement (education and experience)

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Music or a related master’s degree with 18 graduate credits in Music

• Three (3) years of teaching experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Five (5) or more years of teaching experience

• Experience teaching vocals/instruments and/or leading ensembles

• Experience working with technology associated with music performance and/or creation

• Teaching experience at a 2-year or community college

• Experience managing educational or administrative processes
