As a member of the Virtual Accounting Services, the Staff Accountant will work collaboratively with other members of the finance team, in a virtual environment, and will have primary responsibility for preparing monthly financial statements for various operating entities of HEI Hotels & Resorts. The position supports multiple hotel operations and administrative departments in a wide range of accounting, financial reporting, and analytical activities. The Staff Accountant is responsible for processing Accounts Payable, Procurement Workflow & System, Income Journal, Monthly Journal Entries, Balance Sheet Reconciliations, Collections, and other accounting support as needed.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the month-end close and monthly financial statements for a singular or multiple operating entities, including the corresponding review and analysis.
- Acts as a financial resource on a consistent basis, collaborating with management company executives, property accounting and/or Central Accounting teams in discovering creative solutions to improve overall business processes and performance.
- Responsible for assisting with AP, AR, Income Journal, Chargeback Reporting, and other accounting functions as assigned.
- Trains and supports the hotel team members on a variety of financial processes, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, Income Audit, Balance Sheet Reconciliations, and other Month End processes, as necessary.
- Prepares and reviews property cash flow forecasts and communicates funding requests with property team, when applicable.
- Works collaboratively with property and corporate management staff on all finance and accounting related matters.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.
- 1 to 3 years accounting/finance experience within Hospitality, Real Estate, or Service Industry.
- Experience in a Centralized Accounting platform or multi-faceted financial organizations.
- Experience with various branded and non-branded systems (PMS & POS)
- Strong knowledge of financial statements and GAAP concepts.
- Proven ability to work with complex Excel spreadsheets and familiarity with various Enterprise-Level Accounting Software Systems.
- Ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple tasks, work both independently and in a team environment, and grasp concepts quickly.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and detail oriented with ability to think critically..
- Ability to take initiative to identify, prioritize and implement all elements required for team to fulfil responsibilities in accordance with core strategic goal.
- Travel is required less than 10% of the time
