Description of Work

This position reports to the Facility Maintenance Manager and is located at the NC Correctional Institution for Women.

Key Duties Include:

- Perform work in the areas of heating/air conditioning and refrigeration.
- Troubleshoot, install, repair, and provide preventive maintenance service on
HVAC energy control management systems on renovations and
construction.
- Assist in installing electrical conduits and wiring for HVAC electricals circuits.
- Instruct lower-level assistants and offenders in performing intermediate
technical repairs.
- Provides technical guidance and support to other staff members in HVAC
energy control management system.
- Works by instruction from supervisor, by policies, the NC building code
manuals, OSHA regulations, and safety policies.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures during installation, repair, and
removal of HVAC systems.
- Assistance with daily tasks and/or special projects will be in close contact
with offenders.
- Work tasks may require repairs of equipment outside his/her specialty trade,
so knowledge of diverse trade is required.

Salary Range: $39,244.00 - $68,679.00

  • Documented knowledge of HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) Systems  in repair/install and preventive maintenance.

About The Division of Institutions:

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
