Summary:

The School of International Service (SIS) is seeking a Resident Assistant (RA) Leader for the two-week Community of Scholars (CoS) pre-college summer program. This position offers a unique opportunity to mentor high school students while overseeing a team of resident assistants. We are looking for motivated candidates with leadership experience, strong communication skills, and a passion for student engagement. While previous RA experience is preferred, all candidates with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.

​Responsibilities:

1.) Leadership & Supervision

• Oversee and support a team of RAs throughout the program.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for RAs and the program director.

• Coordinate RA duties, including:

• Scheduling work shifts.

• Managing student check-in, registration, and departure.

• Organizing back-up coverage for RAs on their nights off.

• Assigning and overseeing RA-led small group trips.

2.) Student Support & Engagement

• Provide guidance, supervision, and mentorship to high school students.

• Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging community through social and recreational activities.

• Facilitate structured evening activities, oversee free time/study periods, and assist with daytime events.

3.) Residential Life Management

• Oversee check-in/check-out procedures, room assignments, and enforcement of program policies.

• Maintain a safe and supportive living environment for students.

• Rotate morning on-call shifts to assist students preparing for class and serve as an overnight emergency contact.

• Supervise students during weekend activities on July 13 and 14, 2025.

4.) Crisis Management & Communication

• Be prepared to handle emergencies, address student concerns, and follow established safety protocols.

• Maintain regular communication with RAs and the program director.

Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work:

• Part-Time.

• Mandatory Training: In-person orientation to begin July 1, 2025.

• Program Dates: Monday, July 7 – Friday, July 18, 2025.

• One evening off during the program.

Compensation:

• Stipend: $1,500 (paid at the end of the program).

• Housing and meals provided for the duration of the two-week program.

Required Education and Experience:

• Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student in summer 2025.

• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

• Comfortable handling physical tasks such as moving tables/chairs (lifting up to 25 lbs).

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Previous experience as an AU resident assistant or similar leadership role.
