Job Description Summary
POSITION SUMMARYThe Classroom Assistant supports faculty by assisting with the administrative and logistical needs of studio-based courses. This position plays an essential role in setting up class environments and maintaining classroom organization during and outside of instructional time.
The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the job:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with setting up and breaking down prop arrangements for class.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the props room, including folding and storing drapery.
- Return props to designated storage areas. Help maintain classroom and storage area organization.
- Assist with hanging student work in designated display cases and gallery walls.
- Polish silverware as needed for still-life setups.
- Launder classroom linens and restock shelving units.
- Recycle used Gamsol following department procedures.
- Arrange easels, taborets, and other furniture according to instructor preferences.
- Tidy classrooms including clearing sink areas of containers and storing solvent containers in yellow safety lockers.
- Take weekly inventory of studio supplies such as gloves, Gamsol, and rags.
- Report low supplies, spills, maintenance issues, or necessary repairs to Facilities (via online form), or notify the department head and administrative assistant directly.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of computer and projection equipment. Proficiency in traditional media (oil primarily) and knowledge of the figure. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to communicate effectively in an office environment both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
Education and Experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must be enrolled at Ringling College of Art and Design.
Must be in good academic standing.
