Job Description:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.Posting Specifics- Benefits Eligible: Yes
- Shift Details: Full time (40 budgeted hours). 8-hour shifts, days, Monday Friday, no weekends, no holidays, no call
- Unit/Location: St James Hospital
- Preferred Qualifications: Cardiology background preferred, cardiac rehab experience preferred preferred but not required.
Scope
- Reviews and monitors therapy and treatment plans.
- Documents in accordance with hospital and regulatory guidelines.
- Knowledgeable in the application and usage as well as the interpretation of the information obtained from the appropriate methods of monitoring including HR, BP, ECG, RPE and pulse oximetry.
- Identifies the physiological responses to physical activity and the varied methods (HR Reserves, METS, lactate and anaerobic thresholds, etc.).
- Documents the delivery of care to patients. This includes recording the patient's responses to treatment, as well as the adherence/non-adherence to the prescribed protocols and lifestyle recommendations.
- May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need.
- May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
Minimum Qualifications
Required:
- BSN Degree* from an accredited program required within 4 years unless 15 years of acute care service.
- * Failure to obtain a BSN degree within this time frame may result in suspension or termination of employment. Nurses employed by the Hospital on or before September 1, 2014 with only an ASN/ADN, will be exempt from the requirement to obtain a BSN. Any nurse hired by the hospital from September 2, 2014 through April 15, 2019 will have 5 years/60 month, from date of hire, to obtain a BSN. Any nurse who takes legally protected leave during any of the completion periods may have the period extended by a comparable amount of time.
- Current State of Montana Registered Nurse License*
- BLS Certification upon hire
- ACLS required within 6 months of hire

4. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
5. Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts is required.
