Purpose

The Program Manager for Industry Experiences leads experiential learning programming, resource development and employer outreach specifically for graduate students and postdocs at the University of Texas at Austin. This position is also responsible for conducting individual and group advising to prepare students, scholars and alumni to navigate career decisions, applications and effectively manage their career in the future. The successful candidate will be passionate about working with graduate students and building collaborative relationships with employers, campus partners, faculty and community partners to increase graduate student career outcomes. This position is supervised by the Associate Director of Employer Integration and works closely with the Office of Career & Life Design team in the Graduate School.

Responsibilities

Collaborative Career Program and Resource Management: Collaborate with campus partners, career services offices, employers and community partners to curate and manage industry focused experiential learning programming for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars at UT Austin with a focus on sustainability and scale. Opportunities can include site visits, competitions, micro internships and project-based learning. Working closely with the employer Integration team, identify industry targets for a broad range of advanced degree disciplines, both locally and nation-wide. Identify engagement funnels for both students/scholars and employers/community partners, providing opportunities to participate at various levels of commitment and focusing on holistic job search preparation for industry. In collaboration with the Office of Career & Life Design Team contribute to the development and teaching of core career workshops (e.g., resume, interviewing, CV, etc.) and signature programming. Liaise with academic departments to provide tailored content and workshops on core topics, and integrate as appropriate, employer and alumni partners. Lead outreach, communication, organization and delivery of industry engagement funnels (e.g.: Break into Data, Tech is for Everyone etc.) and work closely with the team to leverage existing and create new effective career content and career preparation workshops.
