Job Description
AECOM is seeking experienced Manager-Climate Advisory to join our multi-disciplinary team to be based in San Francisco, CA; Oakland, CA; or Los Angeles, CA. The selected candidate will join the Buildings + Places (B+P) Consulting practice which brings together planners, architects, engineers, economists, and advisors to create city-shaping plans and strategies that tackle major policy, design, and social challenges around how cities and regional agencies serve their constituents.
Our team supports public sector clients, including cities, counties, transportation agencies, and utilities, in developing and implementing programs and policies to achieve their climate action goals. The candidate will lead tasks and act as a subject matter expert on a wide variety of projects related to policy and program design, prioritization and phasing of projects, development of governance mechanisms, and funding and financing strategies. In addition to technical proficiency, the candidate will be expected to effectively participate in business development activities and to direct project teams to ensure quality and timely work products that satisfy clients’ needs.
The candidate will lead discrete technical tasks to support decision-making and design of climate action policies and programs. These tasks may include developing and implementing quantitative analytical approaches; conducting data analysis, economic and financial modeling, literature reviews, and stakeholder interviews; and developing graphics and presentations to communicate key findings for both the client and the public. The position requires the ability to work with senior team members to balance multiple projects and deadlines, delegate appropriate tasks to more junior staff, and communicate clearly with both clients and other teams outside of the team.
The position also requires the ability to lead a project team while working closely with other disciplines and balancing multiple projects and deadlines, delegating and mentoring staff, and communicating clearly with both clients and other team members. Business development expectations include responding to requests for proposals and managing responses, in addition to representing our team internally and externally for opportunities.
Qualified candidates will have an education and/or professional experience in public policy; sustainability; urban planning and/or economics. Qualified candidates will also have experience working with the public sector, as well as exposure to climate-related planning, policy development, and program implementation.
The successful candidate will have experience in several of the following areas/project types:
- Economic and fiscal impact analysis as it relates to regulatory policies and programs (e.g., climate action planning, achieving renewable energy targets)
- Equitable policy and strategy development related to infrastructure delivery
- Funding and financing strategy for public sector investments
- Implementation of new public policies and programs
- Triple bottom line / sustainable return on investment assessments
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications :
- 10+ years of professional experience in public policy, urban planning, climate/sustainability, environmental or urban economics, or related fields
