Job Summary
This position is responsible for processing commercial renewals, endorsements and various other daily tasks within the Commercial Lines Department. This includes answering customer service calls, analyzing rating data for accuracy, processing commercial forms, applications and any other pertinent commercial underwriting documents. Candidate in this position is responsible for completing a variety of tasks associated with day to day processing of commercial documents. The Junior Underwriter I works closely with the Commercial Underwriting staff, the Senior Underwriter and the Commercial Lines Manager.

Duties and responsibilities
- Provide timely and professional customer assistance to agents with processing of renewal business, requesting underwriting information as needed in support of renewal policies and assist with managing the renewal book of business for Safepoint Agents.
- Follow up and process binding documentation on issued policies per SafePoint’s guidelines as needed.
- Process commercial endorsement requests, premium and non-premium related in our Point of Sale System
- Order and review reports needed in the rating and underwriting of risks including issuing correcting endorsements and/or annotating our policy data management system.
- Process service related tasks from the FileHold Management System per SafePoint guidelines
- Support the assigned Commercial Underwriter with various tasks if requested
- Request underwriting reports from ISO, LexisNexis, or any other underwriting resources per SafePoint Commercial Guidelines
- Process Cancellations and Reinstatements within Authority
- Document policy files in our policy managing system for all service requests, including setting tasks and follow-up reminders as needed in accordance with SafePoint guidelines
- Reviews transactions to determine appropriate processing activities and tasks within appropriate workflow, requesting underwriter support when transactions require their attention
- Comply with productivity, quality, and service standards as set forth by SafePoint
- Additional tasks as may be assigned based on department needs and projects, , including assisting with department audit
Essential Functions
- Use computer system to process online commercial policy renewals by verifying policy information, with the goal of completing a minimum of ten (10) renewals daily
- Ability to answer the telephone and engage in live chats through computer software programs to provide customer service support for agents and policyholders with the Commercial Lines products
- Ability to think critically, research and assess risk, and make informed decision
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to review commercial PDF inspection reports received via email in order to identify exposures and complete Recommendation letters from the computer utilizing underwriting experience and SafePoint product knowledge.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 3- 5 years of experience in commercial property and casualty insurance products with processing commercial renewals
- Knowledge of Commercial underwriting policies, procedures, and terminology
- Knowledge of Commercial Property Coverage forms and General Liability forms
- Understanding of commercial underwriting/rating principles
- Have basic knowledge of commercial lines rating, including familiarity with
