Position Summary
Assistant/Associate Professor and Director of Clinical Training (DCT) position. This is a 12-month position that is scheduled to begin August 16, 2025. The Department of Psychology at The University of Alabama announces an opening appropriate for a clinical psychologist with interests in administration, clinical supervision, teaching, and an active program of research. This position will play a critical role in our Clinical Psychology Ph.D. training program, which includes four areas(Clinical Child, Clinical Geropsychology, Psychology and Law, and Clinical Health). This tenure-eligible position is promotion-eligible (i.e., Associate Professor to Full Professor).

Assistant/Associate Professor and Director of Clinical Training (DCT) position. This is a 12-month position that is scheduled to begin August 16, 2025. The Department of Psychology at The University of Alabama announces an opening appropriate for a clinical psychologist with interests in administration, clinical supervision, teaching, and an active program of research. This position will play a critical role in our Clinical Psychology Ph.D. training program, which includes four areas(Clinical Child, Clinical Geropsychology, Psychology and Law, and Clinical Health). This tenure-eligible position is promotion-eligible (i.e., Associate Professor to Full Professor).
The DCT is responsible for the administrative management of the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. Program. Principal duties include (but are not limited to): providing academic leadership, working in collaboration with the Associate DCT and Clinical faculty to guide the program in all matters relevant to clinical training (e.g., guiding students through the internship application process), maintaining and managing APA accreditation processes, and securing and managing clinical placement contracts. Additional responsibilities also include: (a) teaching graduate courses in the Psychology Department and/or the Clinical Ph.D. Program, (b) providing clinical supervision, c) conducting research, and (d) providing administrative and clinical support to our Psychology Clinic which has a full-time director.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates should have the following credentials: (1) a graduate of an APA- or CPA-accredited Clinical or Counseling Psychology Ph.D. program; (2) completed an APA- or CPA-accredited internship; (3) licensed or eligible for Alabama licensure as a psychologist; and (4) a successfully funded programmatic line of research. Evidence of success in administration is preferred.
