Job Description
The Director, Site Strategy and Portfolio Management position is responsible for overseeing development and execution of the strategic portfolio of projects for our Manufacturing Division Wilson site. This role will take an active role in managing both the tactical and transformational initiatives necessary to progress the site’s overall strategic goals. This position will play a pivotal role in ensuring that interdependencies across initiatives are understood and that risks and opportunities within the integrated plan are well coordinated.
As a team leader, this role will direct and oversee individual initiative leaders, facilitate communication, ensure alignment with key stakeholders, and drive results to ensure business needs and commitments are met. The position will report to our Manufacturing Division Wilson Plant Manager and be a member of the Site Leadership Team.
Primary Activities:
The Director, Site Strategy and Portfolio Management position is responsible for directing and overseeing strategic projects and initiatives for our Manufacturing Division Wilson site. As a team leader, the position will be responsible for directing the portfolio of projects through individual initiative leaders to provide guidance, coordinate tasks, drive execution, ensure engagement, simplify communication, and facilitate connection to site and network governance processes.
Primary responsibilities for the position will include but not be limited to:
Business / Delivery
- Own strategic plan supporting the overall our Manufacturing Division Wilson site strategy.
- Utilize high degree of independent judgment and decision-making to direct strategic portfolio of projects within our Manufacturing Division Wilson site.
- Provide leadership to ensure that portfolio of projects is managed effectively and in accordance with business commitments.
- Provide coordination/integration across strategic programs impacting the site, business unit, and division.
- Develop and manage site 5 to 10-year plan for our Manufacturing Division Wilson including an integrated roadmap that measures progress.
- Facilitate routine strategic reviews and updates.
EHS / Quality Compliance
- Ensure strategic initiatives are executed in compliance with Safety, Environmental, cGMP, and Labor regulations. Provide support as needed for compliance related audits and inspections.
- Develop and manage compliance-driven initiatives as necessary to support the strategic goals of the site.
- Ensure appropriate change management is applied when executing projects including capital so that a high standard of EHS and Quality compliance are maintained.
People
- Direct, oversee, and influence a team of individual strategic initiative leaders providing guidance, managing escalations, and facilitating communication with leadership as well as key stakeholders.
- Demonstrate strong enterprise leadership skills including strategic planning, decision making, network and partnership building, influencing, execution excellence, and change facilitation.
- Support the growth and development of individual initiative leaders.
- Effectively lead cross-functional and cross-enterprise teams through strong governance processes.
- Ensure that a positive work environment and culture is maintained within the strategic initiative teams.
Cost
- Control expenditures across strategic initiatives in accordance with agreed upon plan.
- Propose and justify expense and capital projects that support the company and site’s strategic goals. Effectively manage assigned projects through capital approval processes, development of scope, cost estimation, project execution, and closeout.
- Ensure appropriate controls are in place to coordinate portfolio of projects in accordance with spend and business commitments.
Continuous Improvement
- Embed culture of continuous improvement into strategic initiatives with focus on leadership, standard work, making problems visible, minimizing waste, and problem solving.
- Identify interdependencies/risks, ensure alignment on critical decision milestones/mitigations across enterprise, divisional, and business unit initiatives.
- Resolve and escalate issues impacting strategic initiatives within the daily, weekly, and monthly tier management processes.
Minimum Educational Requirements and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technical, Engineering, or relevant Management field (Engineering preferred) with ten (10) years of relevant GMP manufacturing experience across multiple functional areas (Operations, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Technology) at a GMP
