Your new team

This position sits in our Chivas Brothers business. At Chivas Brothers, our 1,600-strong team across 27 sites is committed to upholding the heritage of Scotch and ensuring its sustainable future, as well as opening it up to new audiences across the globe.

The scope of Operations stretches from Procurement through conversion (distillation and maturation) and manufacturing (or bottling) to all the downstream Supply Chain activities until the final product is delivered.  In addition, Operations play a very active role in Innovation, Talent Development and Operational Risk Management.

Our Production function encompasses everything from the distilling of our products, through to Filling, Maturation, Warehousing, and the final Draining & Vatting. Northern Operations is all our sites across the North of Scotland, this includes 12 Distilleries, Animal Feed and Bio-Plants, Heritage Sites, Bulk Warehousing Sites, Blending and Dispatch terminals, laboratory complex.

The Engineering team are responsible for a wide range of engineering activities, from asset care to multi-disciplinary engineering projects.

Your unique contribution

The Maintenance Manager will ensure the continuous and efficient operation of Northern Operations sites. They will be responsible for planned maintenance, prompt repairs, and the upkeep of essential documentation as well as projects aimed at improving operations and reducing downtime.

You will have five main areas of responsibility:

Team Management – to lead and supervise maintenance teams, including recruiting, training, and performance management. You will also oversee and participate in engineering or maintenance projects to upgrade or improve equipment and facilities, as well as managing the maintenance budget and controlling costs.

Equipment & Maintenance – to develop and implement maintenance plans and schedules to ensure the proper upkeep of equipment and facilities and to oversee planned maintenance activities. You will also be responsible for tracking and managing the lifecycle of assets, deciding on repair or replacement strategies, and controlling spare parts inventory. You should also be prepared to address urgent maintenance issues and minimise disruptions to operations.

Problem Solving & Improvements – to manage corrective repairs to address equipment failures or issues and identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains in maintenance operations. You will use data and performance metrics to make informed decisions and optimise maintenance processes.

Collaboration – to keep stakeholders informed about maintenance activities, progress, and issues, and collaborating with other departments as well as to coordinate external service providers, contractors, and suppliers for maintenance work.

Safety and Compliance – to ensure that maintenance operations adhere to safety regulations and industry standards, promoting a culture of safety within the team. Y
