The Chemical Intermediates group has an opportunity for a professional like you to serve as Senior Production Manager for Acetylene Derivatives in our Geismar, LA location.

 

In this role, you will report to the Vice President and be responsible for the daily operation of the Acetylene Derivatives plants (2P, NVP, PVP and PVPi including the warehouse), align both daily and strategic teams and be responsible for improving resource management, technology innovation, EHS performance, profitability and build employee capabilities. You will also be responsible for leadership and development of employees in an organization of up to 40 direct and indirect reports.

  • Leveraging your BS in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or another related technical discipline and your chemical manufacturing experience, you will support key businesses for two different operational divisions as well as site growth activities. 
  • Demonstrating your prior experience in manufacturing where you gained strong technical skills, you will establish tactical plant goals and objectives for the production and technology team to ensure safe & reliable plant operations with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Your knowledge & understanding of occupational & process safety as well as quality management will be essential as you will be accountable for ensuring compliance with EHS requirements for PSM/RMP plants.
  • Your effective interpersonal skills will serve you well to provide technical and administrative guidance to operations, asset & maintenance, & the business in order to optimize the assets & achieve the production plans. 
  • Applying your leadership experience, you will coach and develop personnel (salaried and hourly) into high performance teams that exemplify the culture and behaviors required by BASF. You will also rely on this experience as you participate in recruiting new employees and preparing and implementing succession plans. You will support establishing an environment that involves, trusts, and optimizes a diverse team and creates a vision that fosters a sense of common ownership.
  • Your demonstrated ability to lead change will be a valued asset as you drive the optimization of fixed and variable manufacturing unit costs & provide technical support for cost effective operations. 
  • Your proven record of developing creative solutions to new and complex problems, and continuously improving systems and processes will be critical as you support the strategic objectives of the value chain
