What will you do?
A day in the life of an Associate Concept Designer at The North Face looks a little like this.
- The Associate Concept Designer supports the development of seasonal creative direction through trend research, visual storytelling, and concept execution
- This role helps translate emerging ideas, global insights and cultural trends into compelling mood boards and storytelling assets that inspire product and marketing teams
- They maintain critical organizational systems with concept samples, maintaining digital archives, and preparing polished presentations for cross-functional collaboration
- This position is ideal for a highly creative, curious, and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and has a deep passion for storytelling, innovation, and The North Face.
- Conduct overarching seasonal research, including location-based insights, influences, mood imagery, print/pattern direction, marketing concepts, and storytelling ideas aligned with the customer and product vision
- Perform extensive competitive and market research focused on specific brands, gender segments, and consumer trends to enhance the brand's product and customer experience
- Identify meaningful innovations in silhouettes, fabrications, color direction, marketing approaches, and experiential shopping strategies
- Help design and assemble seasonal concept rigs, including visual displays, mood boards, and marketing boards, and contribute to set-up and styling for internal presentations
- Support the coordination and preparation of digital and physical assets needed for concept walkthroughs and product sessions
- Sample pulling and coordination with product teams.
What do you need to succeed?
We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundation skills you’ll need to succeed and excel. Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 1-3 years of experience and professional achievements within the design and product creation field.
The foundation skills you will need in this position are:
- Min 1-3 years of experience within the product design field, creative concept space, art or related experience
- Core understanding of macro and micro influences on product design
- Understanding of the concept process and working to key milestones and deadlines.
- Exceptional organization skills, follow through and attention to detail
- Creative thinker and strong problem solver
- Experience doing research, prototyping and concepting across lifestyle and performance products.
- Cross functional and team collaboration.
- Ability to build and foster Internal and external relationships.
- Flexibility and change mindset are key.
- Adobe Creative Suite experience.
There are also a few skills that are not required but preferred.
- Production experience with photoshoots
- International work experience and market understanding.
- Design and Material experience.
