Job Description
The Perioperative Care Technician II Team Lead reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
In addition to the Perioperative Care Technician II (PCT II) essential job functions, the POCT II works under the direction of a professional registered nurse to support unit and patient care needs. The POCT utilizes initiative, strives to maintain steady level of productivity. Assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment, and participates in the department’s continuous quality improvement and activities.
The POCT II Team Lead is an energetic, customer-oriented individual who functions as a central coordinator and educator for the POCT IIs team. The POCT II Team Lead is expected to maintain advanced knowledge and proficiency in the unit POCT II role across the organization. The POCT II Team Lead maintains all skills and competencies related to the unit POCT II role. The POCT II Team Lead provides coordination which includes daily oversight, scheduling, quality oversight, orientation of new POCT II and input into the annual staff evaluations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Communicates/collaborates with care team members to provide coordinated, safe and compassionate care for patients.
- Demonstrates use of key words and behaviors, AIDET and rounding techniques to achieve excellent patient satisfaction
- Demonstrates support and awareness of daily schedule by expediting on time starts and efficient progression of patients through perioperative services.
- Documents patient care activities and patient data accurately using appropriate documentation forms and or information systems.
- Performs required clinical skills in a timely efficient manor per protocol, such as: vital sign measurement, aseptic technique, non-invasive specimen collection, hot and cold applications, simple respiratory therapy, post mortem care. Also includes: application of teds/pneumatic teds, clipping, preparation of IV's, restocking of unit, ambulation and toileting of patients, and maintaining a neat and orderly appearance of the unit.
