Every day presents unique challenges in the process of developing and building windfarms. As a Geographical Information specialist, your expertise in analyzing and preparing the spatial data for our wind farms is essential to our mission of promoting fossil freedom for all.
We are excited to expand our team and seek an additional Geographical Information System (GIS) Analyst to join our Business Area Wind. This role will support Vattenfall’s Onshore and Offshore Wind portfolio, as well as other non-hydro Renewable activities. Your job as a GIS Analyst:
Vattenfall uses GIS and other specialist software to support the screening, design, development, construction, operation and spatial data management of wind farms. The GIS Analyst will be carrying out this work for primarily onshore Swedish projects. In addition, contributions to other projects within, the UK, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands and Sweden, as well as other renewable projects, can be expected.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong passion for GIS who enjoys working with various geographic datasets (including engineering site design data).

Your main responsibilities as an GIS Analyst:
- Implement all work strictly according to internal GIS Procedures including metadata;
- Your key tasks are to maintain project GIS Databases with new data creation or data import, while also providing mapping support, WebGIS upkeep and GIS analysis for all relevant projects using ESRI ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro;
- Data management for incoming/outgoing GIS data. Liaise with others ensuring incoming data is compliant with contract requirements;
- Liaise with other Wind departments to support the site hunting, permitting, and design of the wind farm layout (wind turbines and associated infrastructure);

Qualifications
Your profile as a GIS Analyst:
- Graduate qualified in geography, engineering, computing, or Earth science degree;
- 2 years+ experience using ESRI ArcGIS or ArcGIS Pro is essential; experience using ArcGIS Online (AGOL) and CAD is a plus but not essential
- Ability to produce high quality data and geographical outputs (static maps and WebGIS);
- Ability to liaise with technical and environmental specialists;
- Excellent record keeping with attention to detail and accuracy;
- Understanding of geographic coordinate systems, projections and transformations is essential;
- Excellent computer and communication (English and Swedish) skills is essential;
- An interest in renewable energy in general, and wind energy in particular would be advantageous;
- Experience using Python programming language or Model Builder would be advantageous
