About the role

Job Description

This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to [Detroit- Hamtramck Assembly Center, Detroit MI] on a full-time basis.

This position works as a key partner with plant operating leadership, giving timely and relevant reports, analysis and advice that drives business decisions.  This team member will be looked to for recommendations that; drive profitability, mitigate risks and solve business problems. This work involves a high level of collaboration, judgement, decision-making, accuracy, creativity, and initiative.

 

Drive the Business 

  • Understand the plant operating patterns & budget, to be able to analyze and present clear and concise financial stories 

  • Provide financial data to plant leaders to support achievement of cost targets 

  • Drive cost savings across the plant via the ‘cost council’ forums 

  • Prepare special studies; providing financial analysis, consultation, and decision support 

  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders and build strong business relationships 

  • Financial oversight for third party supplier network (VAA, LOC, SA) 

Look to the Future 

  • Solve problems and develop new methods of analysis  

  • Proactively seek opportunities to grow (e.g. develop new skills, attend training opportunities, network, feedback) 

  • Champion continuous improvement and innovation (e.g. streamline process, improve data analytics) 

  • Create a Budget & LTP that achieves demand goals and optimizes plant efficiencies 

Close the Books 

  • Prepare month-end reports & analysis of actual financial results and driver based forecast  

  • Develop thorough knowledge of organizational policies and procedures 

  • Ensure necessary accounting entries are processed and reconciled monthly in accordance with GM policies and procedures 

  • Maintain effective internal controls and ensure fiduciary responsibility over all plant activities, including support of process risk management 

  • Responsible for reporting monthly results and variance analysis internally & to Manf. HQ

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree: business, accounting, finance, economics or related

  • 3+ years of experience in finance or accounting

  • High level of oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines

  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills and technical aptitude

  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with various groups

  • Thorough knowledge of accounting theory and practice

  • Demonstrated organizational skills and a high level of initiative

  • High degree of proficiency with excel, including formulas & functions

  • 5% travel locally

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of SAP

  • Previous operations finance experience
