The position of Commodity Purchasing Manager will be based out of Denver, CO!

 

Summary
The Commodity Purchasing Manager is responsible for Commodities management/purchasing in developing and implementing a business plan to increase sales and market share in the Commodities Category. Maintains a clear understanding of the regional market and gives guidance to the Commercial, Pricing, and Procurement teams.

 

What You’ll Do

  • In partnership with the region Procurement groups and vendors, negotiates on commodity needs within the region. Includes cost negotiation and local rebate negotiation
  • Commercial support on projects and blanket negotiation in line with Offer Plan and Commercial Story with the branch and regional teams
  • Work with Pricing and Procurement teams on system cost management driven by understanding market dynamics as well as profitability of the category
  • Has a clear view on the regional market and gives guidance to the commercial teams
  • Develop plans with our Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers at a regional and local level to yield better market growth as well as achieve back margin objectives
  • Responsible for achieving the sales goals identified in the planning process
  • Responsible for ensuring that projects and new market opportunities are identified, and successful sales plans implemented for each
  • Actively promote products through participation at local trade shows, customer seminars, and other local distributor promotions
  • Work with the commercial teams to identify and develop new service offerings as they relate to the Commodity Category
  • Establish appropriate metrics to track the local success of product launches and promotional programs to meet local sales objectives. Takes corrective action when necessary to maximize effectiveness
  • Responsibility for Commodity category for purchasing activities. Defined as Generic and Non-Generic
  • Develop and implement strategies to attack competition and increase market penetration using marketing tools (i.e., Digital Tools, promotions, service tools, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need

  • 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree in sales or marketing
  • 5+ years of purchasing, sales, or related experience
  • Experience in Commodity Management in Electrical or related industry
  • Practical experience within the electrical supply distribution industry a plus

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding of market dynamics and ability to drive the most effective supplier alignment
  • Knowledge of related products and services to core category, and ability to implement complimentary strategies to achieve objectives
  • Ability to read and write routine reports or job orders
  • Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees within the organization
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and ERP systems
  • Ability to understand market conditions, competitive forces, determine market share, and identify opportunities for growth
