Your Impact
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Automation Controls Engineer to join our New Product Introduction (NPI) team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the development and integration of new automation equipment, collaborating closely with machine integrators, manufacturing engineering, and production groups. As an integral member of the team, you will contribute to the successful launch and scale of cutting-edge products that support Axon’s mission to protect life.
What You’ll Do
Location: Remotely from USA OR Onsite at our Scottsdale, Arizona
Reports to: Director of Manufacture engineering
Direct Reports: 0
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and deploy sophisticated production equipment.
- Control System Design and Development :Design, develop, and implement control systems for new automation equipment, considering safety, reliability, and efficiency.
- Programming and Configuration: Develop and implement PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and HMI (Human Machine Interface) programs to meet project specifications.
- Testing and Validation: Conduct thorough testing of control systems to ensure compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
- Technical Documentation: Generate comprehensive documentation, including user manuals and technical specifications, to facilitate efficient troubleshooting and maintenance of the automation equipment.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of relevant automation and controls experience.
- Proven experience in the design and implementation of automation control systems, particularly in a New Product Introduction environment.
- Proficiency in PLC programming (Rockwell, Siemens, etc.) and HMI development.
- Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.).
- Experience with SCADA systems, MES systems, ERP integration, industrial networks, and robotics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with internal teams, machine integrators, manufacturing engineering, and production groups

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 120,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 231,000 in the highest geographic market. The on target earnings range for this role is between USD 201,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 386,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
